Robert S. Matthews, CPA began his accounting career in public accounting in 1965 after graduating fro C W Post College with a B S in Accounting and joined a medium sized accounting firm in 1968 which subsequently merged into KPMG Peat Marwick. In 1977 he was elected a partner and practiced as a client  service partner from 1977 until November 1988 when he left to form Matthews & Co, a firm of certified public accountants dedicated to providing sophisticated personal service to individuals and small to medium size business.

Over the years Robert Matthews has handled a diverse and complex group of clients. He was a nationwide specialist in the audits of brokers and dealers in securities and he was the audit partner in charge of many initial public offerings which helped him develop his expertise in the valuation of business and income producing assets. He helped develop and expand the trust and estate practice and continues to advise many practioners about judicial accountings and related matters.

As a direct result of his businessman's approach to clients, he has a large number of small to medium size manufacturing and service companies as clients. He also serves as a trustee and director of some charitable trusts and foundations.

Robert Matthews is married, has 4 children, lives in Manhattan, is a member of the New York Athletic Club, Willow Ridge Golf Club (Harrison, NY) and the Westhampton Bath & Tennis Club on Long Island.
